Towards a church planting theology?
Perhaps in an ideal world mission and theology would fit like hand in glove. But evangelical mission can too easily be practiced without theological reflection. For example, writings on church planting seem to give only introductory or tangential attention to elucidating a theological foundation for church planting.
And evangelical theological development often takes place in isolation from mission. For example, few theologians seem to have read British missionary theologian Lesslie Newbigin whose theological insights are helpful. Conversely, few missionaries seem to have read Canadian theologian Clarke Pinnock whose writings have influenced missional thinking about religions.
Maybe this site can contribute toward bridging this gap between theology and mission.
This site reflects the missional, theological, and to a certain extent the geographic location(s) of its author, Dale Little, who has been a missionary church planter in Japan for 40 years and who also teaches theology there.
